| God's plan since the beginning has always been to find a few good men and women that would choose to serve him as opposed to serving their own needs and wants. Almost like the marines who are looking for a few good men, it is much the same with God. We are not saying you get to heaven by being good on your own, because you can't, but when we choose Christ, we become part of a small elite number of people who have found the hard narrow road that leads to life as opposed to the many who choose the easy, wide highway that leads to destruction. This is paraphrased from Matthew 7:14. The fact is, it's much easier to get to hell than it is to get to heaven as spoken by Jesus himself. So for those who think all they have to do is say a prayer or say they believe in God, but then don't live like they believe that, they will have a rude reality slap them in the face when Jesus says to them, that he never knew them. We are not saved by works but by faith, but this quickly turns into a life of works if one had a REAL life changing experience with Christ. If one claims to have been saved, but they don't turn from their sin, then they haven't been saved. If they have no evidence of the fruit of the spirit after salvation, then they never let Christ really change them and anyone who starts to work the plow of Christian service but then turns away, isn't fit for the kingdom as Jesus also said. So with closer study we find how it's always been God's plan from the beginning to weed out the sinful 'servants' of God from his presence whether it be men or angels. It all started with Lucifer, son of the morning. Lucifer was created to be one of the most beautiful creations God ever made and it went to his head and pride arose in his heart so much so, that he wanted to be over God and this is what threw him and his dark rebellious angles who followed him, out of heaven. Man has also been weeded or sifted if you will, many times in history. Gideon's army started with thousands but through a sifting process God got it down to 300 before it served his purposes. Noah and his family were the only ones saved out of an entire civilization. The same thing with Lot and his wife who were saved out of Sodom and Gomorrah and even though she was saved initially, she looked back at Sodom as they were fleeing, after God told them not to and she was killed as well. She was turned to a pillar of salt, because she loved her life more than she loved the things of God. God has always been about finding the few and refining those who would love and obey him more than they love and obey themselves and their own lives. For one to gain his life he must lose it first by surrendering it to God's will. We need to die to ourselves daily as Paul said. In Revelation 20:7 Satan is released for a short time after the 1000 year millennial reign to deceive the nations one last time. Many including myself, wonder why God would do this after all that has happened previous. What has to be concluded is God is sifting and separating one last time before he makes all things new in a world and heaven without sin. Satan finally is thrown into the lake of fire where he was always destined and there he will remain for eternity! |
