| Many people who say they are Christians, have never done the most important thing that actually makes one a Christian, and that's repenting of, then turning from their life of sin. Increasingly studies are showing, that even so called Christians don't even read the bible today. Instead they just go to some church and think that's all they have to do to get to heaven, but without repentance of sin this is impossible. So the following is what is called the sinners prayer which can bring one into right relationship with their creator. However repentance is not supposed to be a one time event in the life of a believer. Also something to note is, repentance is just the START of the Christian walk. In some respects the initial commitment one makes to Jesus is the easy part. The harder part comes when you try and live for him and have to withstand persecution, from even those perhaps in your family, or friends who will come against the change in your life. And if no change comes to your life guess what? You are not a Christian. You see the following are not magic words, but words that if not meant will make no difference in your life whatsoever. You have to not only repeat the following, but believe it and live it every day in every fiber of your being. So repeat and mean these words and of course you can use your own words as well, but the basics are what is needed here. "Dear heavenly father, I thank you for sending us and me your son Jesus Christ the savior of the world and the only one who can forgive sin. After he was tortured and crucified for my sins he rose again from the dead on the 3rd day as he predicted he would. He was not just a good man, teacher and prophet as some say, but the son of God and is God as well and he now sits at the right hand of you the father praying and interceding for us. I realize that I am a sinner and have sinned against you in many ways. Please forgive me right now of all my sin and cleanse me making me a new creation and a new person who desires to serve the God of all. I now repent of all my ways which are not your ways. Please teach me how to pray and study your word the bible, so I can not only live in peace with you now, but forever in heaven and wherever you are heaven is there. Thank you for what you are going to do for me in the near future, I accept your new plan for my life and realize it will be unfolded to me the closer I get to you. Amen!" If you just prayed this and meant it, welcome to the family of God! You are now a fellow brother and or sister with the rest of the saints worldwide and have gone on before us and are now in heaven. But now you have to live a different life than what you did before. Next thing is get yourself a good study bible and start reading the book of John, then Matthew or Luke, then Revelation, to read about heaven and what is about to come to pass soon. Pray that he helps you receive the proper interpretation of his word. If you are not a big reader, get the bible on CD starting with the new testament. The bible on CD will get you up and running just about in one day. Try and listen to entire books which should only take approx. one hour and you will be amazed at what the powerful living word of God will do for you. Remember that bible commentary which is below or beside the scripture is written by men and is not always reliable, because it is ones opinion on what the word means. Since some have an agenda, it can cloud their judgement and they end up saying what they want the scripture to say, instead of what it actually says. Just read the scriptures for yourself and simply believe what is written literally and you will be far better off than most. What the written word to the soul is, kind of what chorine is to pool water. It will cleanse you and help keep you clean if you allow it to do it's work. Without the word you will fail and your enemy Satan WILL come to steal what you have, if you do not get rooted in the word quickly. Do not overlook this most important part of your Salvation because it will arm you with the tools you will need to defeat our enemy Satan who comes to steal and destroy. The bible on CD is more like pool shock, because you will be getting more of the word inside you and quicker. The every best thing of all however is to do both! |
