There is no perfect church because churches are made up of imperfect people. Did you ever notice how everyone thinks they attend the only church that's on it's way to heaven? Of course you have, but it's much worse than that. Actually even most folks who know little about God think they are on their way to heaven because they think they are good enough to make it on their own. (see the good people page for more on this) But here we will discuss church in general. Does one have to go to church to be a Christian or make it to heaven? No but it certainly helps and is encouraged by the local assembling of like minded Christians in church. Corporate worship and praise to God as is needed in the lives of believers and is pretty tough to do on your own.

Plus often overlooked is, we all have different talents and they all work together for good to those who love the Lord. So someone else in your local church probably needs you and it's not made complete when you are not there.

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near." (Heb. 10:23-25)

The bible says we the people are the church, not some building. There has been much criticism on church size etc. like that is supposed to matter and it does not matter a hill of beans. Just because there are ten thousand folks going to some mega church doesn't mean they are spiritually ok nor the pastor of that church. The fact is there are real Christians in every church denomination that has it's head Jesus Christ as well as in every size church whether it's a house church or a mega size.

It's true however some bigger churches can be harder to control and why many people like smaller churches. Sometimes in larger churches the left hand does not know what the right is doing and it can lead to problems if the pastor does not have a handle on all the different ministries that are going on.

This can also be true of the denomination which oversees many churches under their jurisdiction and how you can have 100 of you name your denomination, but the 100 individually can be all over the map as far as the denominational doctrine is concerned. One Baptist church is not like another in every case and that goes for many other denominations too. Catholics, Pentecostal, Full gospel, Congregational, Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopal, Church of God, Church of Christ, Four square, Seventh day adventist, sorry if we missed yours here, but the point is there are many who claim Christ as their head.

Back in the early church when the disciples of Christ were building it up by planting churches they had many of the same problems we do now, only our problems have been magnified beyond what they had because of the sheer number of the many churches overall.

Someone has said the church is filled with hypocrites and site this as a reason not to attend and we here say yes that's correct and so what? It's always been like this and always will be until Christ returns and separates the hypocrites from the real Christians. That's his job not ours.  How about the faithful ones who do attend who are not hypocrites? No one can paint with such a broad brush and be correct.

The salt of the earth is what Jesus called us and the salt is to be sprinkled in every church and every walk of life, for if it isn't how will the world see the light? If all the Christians went underground here in the US which could happen some day as it is in other countries, who will be the light then?

The attacks that have come on churches recently and leaders in some of those churches who have fallen have all hurt the cause of Christ to some extent, but still his kingdom marches on. We win in the end, so stay the course as your local church needs you!
