Then he said to them, "Nations will fight against other nations, and kingdoms against other kingdoms. In various places there will be great earthquakes, sicknesses, and a lack of food. Fearful events and great signs will come from heaven".
Also in Matthew 24:8 he said speaking about the same events: 8 "All these are the beginning of birth pains".
Critics and scoffers today are saying that earthquakes and the like have always occurred, so what makes today any different? The answer is simple. The earthquakes, riots and famines today, in every category are literally off the charts in their scope, intensity, magnitude and multiplied numbers. For the U.S. Geological Survey dept., which can be found at www.USGS.gov, to remove one of their own charts because of the statistics going so wild, shows us something serious is happening to the world.
But rather than looking to man to explain this, why don't we just look to Jesus who already foretold these happenings? He didn't just foretell them, he is causing them to happen. It's not as if God has no control over his own creation, in fact he has total control. Every earthquake and tremor he orders and the death that ensues is because he ordered it. He orders judgment and mercy at the same time.
Haiti's recent massive earthquake which killed over 200,000 people, is an example of this. There are many charitable organizations which were already at work before the earthquake hit. They were already there to help those who would need help after the disaster. Was this a coincidence? No, God knew what was going to happen and though many were killed, many more were saved.
Little does anyone know but the people of Haiti, over one million of them, spent the next days and weeks after the earthquake falling on their knees in repentance to God. This included the president Rene Preval. This is precisely why God does the things he does, to not only judge some, but more importantly to save some as well. This is also what the last great tribulation period will be all about.
*Update*Update*Update*
Amazingly the above chart which was already been removed from the www.usgs.gov, is already being discredited by "our own U.S. Government" if we can call it that anymore. It figures that they would do this. As soon as they find out that the chart resembles and proves biblical prophecy they go back and revise history. This is their own chart mind you, but they have now gone back 30 years and have said the earthquakes for the last 30 years have remained "relatively constant" at 150 or so per year 6.0 magnitude earthquakes and above.
This is a boldfaced lie, but just as with the global warming scandal, Dr. Jerome Corsi wrote the following about that: "Climategate revelations that prominent global alarmists have manipulated climate data prove global warming was an ideological agenda masquerading as a scientific theory."
This has already been swept under the rug and they are back to their lies again. So it should come as no surprise that the USGS.gov would also go back and lie about then revise their own numbers to make it look like major earthquakes have been constant the last 30 years. But that's ok, the truth is out of the bag and won't go back until Jesus comes. Their deception on this was even prophesied by Jesus on this and all fronts. Very soon now all truth will be wiped from public domains and propaganda will be the only thing that rules.
But until it is still a little factual truth can still be found at Wikipedia none the less. Although Wikipedia can't be fully trusted on personalities etc., when it comes to documented historical facts it is still very good. They still have the older non-revised facts that the U.S. government has not yet changed. Here is their list of earthquakes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes
Here is their list of historical documents riots:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_riots
By the way these riots have taken off since the year 1700. Before the year 1700, there were relatively few even all the way back to Jesus day and before.
Same thing with famines, they were relatively few even all the way back to Jesus day and before, until the year 1700 or so then they started to increase exponentially.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_famines
Between 108 BC and 1911 AD there were no fewer than 1,828 major famines in China, or one nearly every year in one or another province; however, the famines varied greatly in severity.[1][2] There were 95 famines in Britain during the Middle Ages.
On the war front it's the same thing, all are on the increase:
