Rather than me naming names like I used to do, I instead will just be giving general priciples of what false teachers do and say. This is easier because there are so many now it's almost impossible to keep up with. However, there is a website who does keep up with names, but they don't list them all either. www.apostacywatch.com is that site and it's pretty good for what it does. "So, I'm not saying He(Jesus) couldn't heal. But, the gift of healing, which Jesus demonstrated, was unique to Him, the 70, and the apostles, and even diminishes with the apostles, as I commented on this morning. Paul met Trophimus when he was sick, and left him sick. So, even in Paul's case, the power to heal had diminished as his ministry went on. Also : Then we come back to the issue of does the Lord heal believers who pray for healing?? And the answer to the question is He can do whatever He wants to do. That is not, however, a major emphasis in Scripture. In fact, if you go through the New Testament and try to find a verse that says, pray for people to be healed, you won't find one. It's not explicitly part of what we do as believers" Look what else they say about Alter calls. They attack them greatly and say the preachers who practice this are manipulating people, as well as attacking Charles Finney and others for coming up with the idea. Charles Finney can't even defend himself now because he has been dead for decades. But the fact is, Charles Finney did not come up with it in the first place, the Methodists did, inspired by the Holy Spirit of course. On tongues they say "After that era, I believe, tongues ceased. And, that's 1 Corinthians 13, Whether there be tongues, they shall cease. And, I believe they ceased. Now, today, people have started up speaking in tongues again. And, it's been since 1900, or a little after that it started up again. And, the question is, if it ceased for 1800 years, how could it start again? Well, they try to go back to Joel, and get a verse that says, The former rain and the latter rain, and this is the latter rain, and God's bringing it back, but that's very unfair to the text. So, I believe what we have today could basically be explained as demonic, counterfeit. And, by the way, I don't know if you know this, Tibetan Monks speak in tongues, Eskimos speak in tongues, many of their tribes, so do Mormons, who don't even believe the Gospel. So, it could be Satanic."So what we have here are men who claim to be Godly, yet so freely attack others in the Christian community and attaches to them the Satanic label, just because they do not practice tongues and other gifts of the spirit themselves, but yet they say they are filled with the spirit. But other extreme Calvanists do this as well and to their shame, they will have much to answer for when they face Jesus, as they are leading many astray. They have a form of Godliness, but they deny the power thereof. 2 Timothy 3:5. The NLT reads: "They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them Godly. Stay away from people like that!" To attack the people and works of the Holy Spirit is to commit the sin of Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit itself. This does not mean there are not Pentecostals, Charismatics and others he has cited that are not fakes or frauds, but to label all with the same broad brush is highly blasphemous and damaging to the cause of Christ that he supposedly defends. There are many good Christians of all stripes who practice praying in the spirit everyday. Are they all Satanic? This is the height of folly. They also say tongues ceased because of 1 Cor 13:8. The problem is he only quotes it partially. But lets look at what God says: " 8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away". Question for these people is: Did knowledge and prophesy also pass away too, or are you just against tongues today? What's obvious here and in the following scripture is Paul is talking about when time as we know it is no more as in heaven not now! If he would have quoted all the scripture and all of it in context through verse 10, he would have seen what Paul was really talking about. 9"For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears". When does perfection come? Only when we are with Jesus in heaven. More on tongues, he says because they have started up again around the year 1900, that this is a problem somehow. Question: Did anyone in Paul's day, in Paul's churches that he helped form by the way, stray from the truth of scripture and Paul's teachings? Yes of course! This is why Paul wrote the letters he wrote. He wrote them to remind them of what Jesus and he taught. But in a very short time span they had already wandered and let sin into their churches, while Paul was still in charge! Given this, is it possible that 1800 years later many have strayed including these false teachers? Of course it is, in fact not only is it possible, it is a fact. The reason there are so many thousands of denominations etc. is precisely because of the passage of time. If the original early churches strayed back then and they did, then it is only natural for there to be a massive straying in the 1900 years since then. Without Jesus, Paul and the other Apostles to right the wrongs, this is exactly what we get and why Jesus is coming so soon now, to set things right. So for these false teachers to attack Christians who are doing nothing more than seeking more of God in a purer form like they did back in Acts 2, is highly blasphemous. He says they are being unfair to the text, but are they, or is he the one being unfair? If you are going to talk about scripture, then quote it fully please. Joel 2:28-29 reads : 28"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit". Anyone who would take the time to study this passage and the whole book of Joel, would know Joel was speaking about the end times, which started with the early church in Acts, to the time we are living in now, as well as up to the second coming of Jesus in Rev. 19:19. In Joel 2:18 we see a picture of God restoring Israel in the land promised to them. This started to happen in 1948, when Israel became a nation again. Then Joel says in verse 28, that after this I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. This is happening now and has been happening since the early 1900's, as the endtimes church has awoke to it's calling that they let die for 1900 years. This also will happen right up to the rapture of the church and the overwhelming and terrible day of the Lord as described Joel 2:31, Rev.6:12-15 and Matthew 24:29-30. Other "tongues and gifts deniers" , come up with a clever sayings such as " If it's new it can't be true" and they refer to this outpouring of the spirit that started up again in mass around the year 1900. They also tried to tie this movement of the spirit to the cults. But new is not the same thing as forgotten or 'mothballed.' They also say that they accused by the ones who preach the entire word of God, that they don't. We here would obviously side with the Holy Spirit and all who embrace it as for today. The fact that the 'church proper' however that is defined, along with church history not teaching this important doctrine, can't negate it's importance. We need it even more today. Just because the church got fat, lazy and stupid for 1900 years, does not mean we should not rise to this last days calling of the outpouring of the spirit. One last thing that angry Calvanists such as these men teach is the dangerous doctrine of, 'once saved always saved'. The problem with this is, that many use it as a license to get involved with any sin they choose to practice and still think they can gain heaven. Though some Calvanist preachers will say that's not what they believe, that is what happens to many who hear the term "once saved always saved', or don't worry about sin, you can't lose your Salvation. The effect it has has and is having today on the church is devastating and what we see going on in the American church is a product of this dangerous doctrine. Because some don't teach the entire word of God, this becomes the result. Shallow non-praying Christians, if they are Christians at all, and a weak church that couldn't even cast a demon out if they had to. Pray for these men, who lead many astray.
