With there being so many false teachers, prophets and teachings today, where does one turn?  Who can you listen to? It's getting harder and harder all the time to find someone who is preaching 100% truth all the time, if there is anyone at all.

If you are listening to someone who speaks on and on for extending periods without ever quoting scripture, they may be a false teacher.  Of course this does not mean all who quote scripture do it correctly without adding to, twisting or taking away from it.  This happens a lot too and one must be careful of those types as well.  But there are others who will ramble on and on for even up to an hour without ever quoting one complete scripture.

If and when they do quote scripture, it is usually incomplete and or, they add to it their own words and understanding sometimes telling you scripture does not mean what it says, instead it means what they say it does.

An example I will give you without naming names, is one who says he is the one and only prophet and or he is the "last day prophet" and the one who is preparing the way for Jesus soon return.  They also claim that their words are the ones that need to be heeded and even put that above scripture in some sort of  "new Revelation"  that only they can know about.

We need to remember Jesus made the claim of being the "only one."  Anyone else making similar claims even though calling themselves "mere humble prophets", need to be scrutinized more closely.

Example:  Jesus said he is coming as a thief along with Peter saying the day of the Lord will come as a thief, meaning they must be one and the same.  This obviously comes with the understanding that no one can know when he is coming.  This makes not only date setters false, but anyone else who claims they know "the one sign" that may signal his return.

Even common sense would tell one if there was only one sign to look for, then it would negate Jesus coming as a thief and it would make the person making this claim "who knows the one sign" special and to be listened to above all others.  Jesus said in  both Matthew chapter 24 and Luke chapter 21 there would be many signs that would signal his return, not just one.  This is still in keeping with his coming as a thief and does not diminish it.  Since no one knows which earthquake, war, famine or you name your disaster or sign will be the last one that signals his sighting in the air, his coming will still remain a mystery.

However this does not mean Jesus left us in total darkness regarding his return.  Jesus did not say when one particular last sign occurs then look for my return as some are claiming, instead he said in Luke 21:28 when you "see these things begin to come to pass look up and hold your heads high, because the time when God will free you is near"

These things means everything he mentioned previously, which is ALL the signs not just one.

Also Luke 21:34-36 is proof of a pre-tribulation Rapture which will occur before God's last seven years of wrath has begun. It reads:

"Be careful not to spend your time feasting, drinking or worrying about worldly things.  If you do that day may come on you suddenly like a trap on all people on earth.  So be ready all the time.  Pray that you will be strong enough to escape all these things that will happen and that you will be able to stand before the son of man".

All these things means just what it says.  It means before the real severe stuff starts to occur at the breaking of the sixth seal some people will escape the last seven years of God's wrath.

This not only speaks to a pre-tribulation Rapture, but it also speaks to the surprise in which it will happen.  However this does not mean it will be a secret though some claim this.  Jesus first phase of his 2nd coming will not be a secret event instead we see in many passages like Matthew 24:30, Revelation 1:7 and 6:15-17, many will see it, in fact the entire world will mourn and cry out at his first sighting in the clouds.  Everyone is going to see the Rapture event.

Anyone who preaches a different Gospel than ALL the gospel, should be cursed, especially when they know the full truth but refuse to preach it.  But many have their own agenda and seek to put themselves and "their ministry" above that of the entire truth.  Many become stubborn and unteachable themselves while claiming at the same time to be in tune with God. But disagreements they have with simple easy to understand scripture proves they don't speak for God,  but instead for themselves.

Some will occasionally quote one scripture, but rarely all of it and they routinely change words to suit their own agenda.

Beware of any and ALL such teachers and preachers regardless of how sincere they may appear and religious they may sound.

Many false teachers will also jockey for position by attacking others only to lift themselves higher.  Just because one accuses another, does not automatically make the accuser anymore scripturally sound than the one they are attacking.
